St James' Church, 30 Main Road, Cooling, Rochester Kent ME3 8DQ
Have you heard of Champing? It's like camping but in a church and most of the venues are dog-friendly how pawsome is that! Here we give you St James' Church Cooling ...

For anyone with a love of Dickens this church is an unmissable experience. The churchyard of St James was his inspiration for the opening chapter of Great Expectations, where our hero Pip meets Magwitch. Here, you can find ‘Pip’s Graves’ – the forlorn gravestones of 13 babies that Dickens describes as “little stone lozenges”. The site is dramatic – on the Hoo Peninsula with marshes stretching north to the Thames estuary. Settle down in the church with a pork pie and some brandy or visit Rochester during the Dickens Festival, held each year in June.

Camping season ends on 27th October for most of our sites. There are a few locations open all year round. So, book your stay now, or plan ahead for next year!

Olives Place

Derbyshire

Long Row Belper Derbyshire
Olives Place is a beautifully renovated cottage full of quirky charm and character. Set in a peaceful, quiet location, it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. We loved the secure garden for our dog a real bonus. Inside, the cottage was spotless and exceptionally well-equipped, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The owners communication was excellent throughout, and the generous welcome basket (including treats for our dog!) was a lovely touch. The cottage made a great base for exploring the area highlights included Mam Tor, the Heights of Abraham, Tramway Museum and Belper, with fantastic meals at The Excavator (Amblegate), The Railway Inn (Shottle), and Nourish at No 44 (Belper) The cottage is located on an extremely narrow and cobbled road, so care is needed when driving but it adds to the character of this charming spot. We had a fabulous stay and wouldnt hesitate to return or recommend!

Find Olive's Place on various websites on the internet just search Olives Place Long Row Belper

Pine Tree House

Wales

Pine tree house, Tyn Rhyd, Barmouth Wales LL40 2TU
Our treehouse glamping adventure was everything we dreamed of — and more! Nestled deep in the woods, it was the perfect adults-only hidden escape for both humans and their pups. The treehouse itself was beautifully crafted, blending rustic charm with a touch of luxury, and it truly felt like we were tucked away in our own private little world.

For the humans, the hot tub and sauna were absolute heaven — the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. And for the pups? Endless woodlands stretched in every direction, offering plenty of space to roam, sniff, and adventure freely. Watching them run through the trees with pure joy was honestly one of the highlights of the trip.

One day, we took a little detour and headed to Barmouth Beach — a stunning spot with wide sands, sea views, and best of all, it’s super dog friendly. Our pups had the time of their lives splashing in the waves and racing across the shore while we enjoyed the sunshine and sea breeze.

This trip was everything we could have hoped for: peaceful, relaxing, and full of little moments that made big memories. We came away refreshed, reconnected with nature, and even closer to our furry companions. We’re already planning our return.

Thank you so much to Chelsea, Cookie and Biscuit for recommending this

We ignored TLC and went chasing waterfalls! The first waterfall is around a 45 mins (moderate) hike. There are 2 others further on. There is plenty of free parking along the road. There is a pub just before the entrance to the walk. Also a public toilet opposite.

Brook Farm, Littleworth Lane, Belton In Rutland, Oakham LE15 9JZ

This place is seriously doggy heaven. An adult only glamping site with just 3 en-suite cabins with their VERY OWN PRIVATE & ENCLOSED GARDENS.

Rutland Rural Retreats is proudly super dog-friendly yet never compromises on comfort, cleanliness, or those extra creature comforts for the hoomans and paws. Here wagging tails and smiling faces all go hand in hand. Each of the glamping cabins are heated, beautifully finished, and spaced well apart for maximum privacy. Woodpecker, the furthest of the 3, is a guest favourite for those travelling with more nervous or reactive paws, Bumblebee, with its 1.5m high fencing, is perfect for more athletic paws and last but not least.....Shepherds Rest with its very own, wood fired hot tub!

Our pups had ramps so they didn't have to jump, paddle trays, teepees for nap time and loads of tasty treats. Our pod (Shepherd's Rest) even had a secret doggy den under the human's bed! Which our two claimed immediately - no sharing required! We humans loved out welcome goodies too!

Thanks to Cookie and Biscuit for the recommendation.

Holden Farm Camping & Cafe

Hampshire

holdenfarm.co.uk
Holden Farm, Alresford Hampshire SO24 0NX
Holden Farm caught my eye as a stop off on the way to the West Country from Kent - it was the most well organised in the communal area I think I have ever seen but the field we stayed in looked so natural with tents round the edge (we were in a camper van) and big green space in the middle, no pitches as such.

There is an information area and maps to show you the walk to The Flower Pots Inn in Alresford SO24 0QQ which had a stunning beer garden with lots of space for the doggies and was a lovely walk through the country to get there so doubled as a dog walk.

Highly recommended by The Dog Advisor Kent 2024

Hercules Cabin Spring Park

Cornwall

07805 990302
quirky-holidays-cornwall.co.uk
Spring Park, Rezare, Launceston, Cornwall, PL15 9NX
If ever there was a place designed for both humans and hounds to unwind, it has to be Spring Park in Launceston, Cornwall. This time we tucked ourselves away in the Hercules Cabin, and what a treat it was! Hercules Cabin is one of several options at Spring Park.

The cabin itself is like stepping into a storybook — cute, quirky, and cosy but with all the modern comforts you secretly hope for when “glamping.” Full electrics meant no fumbling around with torches, the little kitchen was just right for whipping up breakfasts, and the en-suite shower room made the whole experience feel more boutique hotel than rough-and-ready camping.

The humans definitely didn’t go hungry (or thirsty!) either. Evenings were spent firing up the pizza oven, grilling on the BBQ, and then sinking blissfully into the wood-fired hot tub under the stars. Nothing says holiday like sitting in bubbling hot water with a glass in hand while the night settles around you.

But the real highlight? The pups! Cookie and Biscuit had the time of their lives in the enormous, partially enclosed woodland garden. From sniffing out every corner to chasing each other through the trees, their tails didn’t stop wagging. It felt so good knowing they had their own safe little adventure playground while we relaxed.

Spring Park was everything we wanted: relaxing, dog-friendly, and just that little bit magical. We left feeling recharged, happy, and already plotting our next trip back. If you’re looking for a break where the whole family — paws included — can truly switch off and enjoy, Hercules Cabin at Spring Park is a must.

Thank you to Chelsea, Cookie and Biscuit for this pawsome recommendation
