Tasha and Doug at Doggie Explorers Kent first got into mantrailing in 2021 and found it was an outlet for their high energy cockapoo Smudge both mentally and physically, challenging and fulfilling his desire to please. Mantrailing is a dog sport inclusive for every dog including reactive dogs as dogs are worked one at a time. You can quickly get hooked, earning badges, rosettes and working your way through assessments if you and your dog would like to!
Doggie Explorers offer Mantrailing (teaching pet dogs to find 'missing' people for fun) as well as Scent Detection, Tracking and Dog Training with sessions generally in the Herne Bay, Whitstable and Faversham areas but also travel further Dover, Deal, Wye (Ashford) and even Sheppey more recently so keep an eye on their socials for dates.
Contact Doggie Explorers to start a conversation about you and your dog(s)' Mantrailing journey! Or if you need some more reasons ...
- Low impact sport so you don't have to be physically fit to take part with your dog
- Teamwork between dog and owner strengthens your bond
- A fun relaxed learning environment with like-minded dog people, a close community of other mantrailing addicts!
- Great form of mental and physical stimulation for your dog tiring your dog out more than taking them for a walk
- Uses your dog's nose, their best asset!
- Can help reduce or overcome reactivity and improve behaviour. Sniffiing encourages calmness and reduces stress and anxiety
- Helps builds confidence in anxious and nervous dogs
- Enrichment through problem solving
- An outlet for their natural instincts and plays into their predatory motor pattern - chase, capture devour
- Associate strange people with good experiences and positive associations
- Favourite food/toy reward when they find their trail layer!
- No commitment to weekly classes, you can book as many or as little sessions per month as you please
- Time outdoors at awesome venues and events including Fort Amherst, The RAF museum, Dover Castle and Maize Maze!
