Describe your business to our readers
I'm a Canine Behaviourist specialising in rescue dogs, and offering dog guardians affordable support through my 5-star rated Dog Club
Do you have your own dog(s)?
Kuki is a mixed-breed mountain dog from Bosnia. His unique needs as a rescue inspired my journey to helping others.
How do you start your day?
I have an early start at the stables mucking out. I've been starting my day this way for nearly 20 years and can't think of a better way - I've seen thousands of sunrises and nothing beats it in my opinion!
How does a typical business day look for you?
I've got better at setting boundaries now - no more checking emails while I brush my teeth! I check in with Dog Club members first, then head off to a behavioural session. I get home and complete a full personalised plan to send to the client, then assess the dog for my next session. I'll do some work for the Dog Club, creating videos or preparing our next Live Session with another Canine Professional.
How do you finish your day?
At the stables - Stanley, my horse, is great at easing my busy brain!
What do you most love about running your own business?
The people I meet. And the dogs of course - but I have met some truly amazing people doing this job.
And your least favourite thing?
The stories I hear can be harrowing. I meet dogs who have been through all sorts and it never gets easier to carry.
What would you like to say to dog owners reading this?
It's not too late to get help - if you've been dealing with a behavioural challenge for weeks, months or even years, you don't have to anymore. I've helped dogs in as little as one session, even when their guardians are exhausted and have tried everything. It can be so, so much easier than you think, as long as you have the right help. You don't have to struggle.
