Describe your business to our readers
No Ruff Days caters for dogs in Sittingbourne and Faversham. We are most popular for our Secure Group Sessions, which involve a group of four dogs on a weekly basis socialising and having fun in a secure field, we love this as recall is no problem and all the dogs are comfortable with each other.
We also offer walks, check ins, pet sitting and other services.
Do you have your own dog(s)?
I have always had dogs growing up, I couldn’t be without them!
My dog at home is a crazy but lovely border collie. He also has a brother that comes to stay during the day, and whilst they sometimes get on each others nerves, they love to play and cause havoc with each other. We also train both dogs in Flyball, which if you haven’t heard of it - look it up! It’s a fantastic dog sport that you have to see.
How do you start your day?
I start my day with a very STRONG coffee. I put on my trusty equidry robe and big boots and head off to my first dog.
How does a typical business day look for you?
Typically I have a couple of solo walks, a duo and a couple of secure group sessions throughout the day. I have a van that I’ve just finished kitting out which holds all of the dogs comfortably and securely, and the clean up job is certainly a lot easier.
How do you finish your day?
After I’m done for the day I’m back for the collie for one more frosty outing before relaxing for the evening.
What do you most love about running your own business?
I love spending every day with dogs. Everybody I meet says I bet that’s the dream job, and it really is. You can’t complain that much. My favourite aspect of the job is taking on young dogs and watching them grow up - shout out to my lovely lab sisters Pippa and Willow who I’ve had since young pups!
And your least favourite thing?
My least favourite thing about running the business isn't the cold weather, or the mucky dogs, it’s the admin! I really dread the tax return and try to keep on top of it all with various spreadsheets and apps, but it’s still daunting! Roll on January!
What would you like to say to dog owners reading this?
I hope everyone has the best Christmas this year, and keep on enjoying those cold muddy walks. If you struggle, give me a call!
